Ok, not sure how or when I'm going to get footage up here, but I've got some my notes and thoughts on it and the presentation. (might be kind of random)
+ Biggest thing (easily) - Clans and Guided Games. Guided Games? You don't have to join a Clan if you don't want to. Clans can post guided sessions where solo players can be filler, including in Raids. And maybe join the clan along the way. This is huge.... and I think probably the best way you could do it, rather than only matchmaking. This alone is probably the the biggest improvement to the game for me.
- PvP has been shrunken to 4v4 only. WHY!!! That, I'm rather pissed about... I sure hope there's enough backlash on that to start getting 6v6 back in there. But how small are the main game maps going to be, designed for 4v4? (Though admittedly, some of the last maps we've gotten have gotten rather oversized even for 6v6).
- More cutscenes than ever. My thought - great, more cutscenes where we don't get to do the 'actual' cool stuff. Which I know, is extremely nitpicky and kind of ridiculous, but here's my main example... SHIP BATTLES. Why do we do NOTHING! With our ships!!!! And in this presentation, there is (practically) no talk about anything to do with ships, except that you don't even have to go to Orbit anymore. And I actually liked orbit, but apparently enough people didn't. And some form of SRL, even after what happens? Nothing. Hell, were sparrows even in the gameplay footage? Are sparrows actually gone now? (for now) I guess I kinda have to look again.
-+? They went through a way on how world exploring is changing. And yet, it sounds almost nearly the same as it is now, except that the map is actually a usual normal map now. Bigger? Doesn't look like it, but I don't know. Patrols are still a thing, believe it or not, but what I think are replacing public events (and invasions?) are missions with a boss and chest, all of which now show up on your map when they start. So.... really, is the biggest change here that we have a usable normal map now? Oh yeah, and NPCs in the world will be joining you on these missions as well. How annoying they might be, we don't know yet.
- Which brings me to the current state of the voice acting. Ugh.... They've gotten way too comfortable with their roles in my opinion. At this point nearly all of them almost don't even come close to sounding natural.... They're in a studio and that's about it. That just really takes me out of it...
- The new locations. More Earth (European Dead Zone) Whoopie? Titan, which is a Saturn moon, has an all ocean surface so this location is pretty much all oil rig type places and even cities on stilts. Not particularly interesting... Io, a Jupiter moon, looks like Venus. Ugh... AND Nessus is a now artificial Vex location. THIS IS ALMOST ALL THE SAME DAMNED STUFF!!!! .....
- Speaking of which, we're fighting new versions of Cabal and Vex yet again. Same old, same old. I mean... of course. Nothing on Hive.
- I guess not too unsurprising, PC is getting Destiny 2 and it's actually going to be on Battle.net (because of course Activision owns Blizzard). The interesting thing is, the guy on video announcing it actually called it Battle.net as it's been for many many many years, but... only weeks ago they dropped the Battle.net name. Hmm. No mention of cross platform play, which would have been really cool, as long as PvP wasn't included. Sigh... oh well...
- Also, I could be wrong, but it seemed like in the gameplay the FOV was shrunken even just a tiny bit more? If that's the case, that's not a great sign because it's probably for performance reasons. And the FOV is pretty small already. And oh boy how the PC players are gonna have a fit when they can't change their FOV.....
Biggest positive. Easily, Guided Games. Biggest negatives, 4v4 only PvP (yet raids are still 6... odd). STILL NOTHING ON SHIPS!!! And sparrows/SRL???....
The other stuff is showing off 1 of the replacement supers for each class. Can't remember if it was Warlock or Hunter gets a flaming sword (again) which lets them jump and hover and shoot down slices of flame swords at enemies at a distance, rather than a single void bomb (But actually, wasn't the bow & arrow nearly the same damned thing?....). Same goes for whoever gets the electrical staff which is actually a rapid melee acrobatic combat weapon (all on the ground maybe, don't know if it lunges as much as the knives). Titan's shield is actually also a melee weapon but also... can be thrown at an enemy and dinked off a bunch of other enemies in ricochet form. I guess it's about time Titan got a super that he doesn't have to aim, but it doesn't arch like the hammer did, though I guess the Warlock's void bomb was the only good arcing super at least in Control. Sigh... pvp is really going to be sad for me now... Damnit.
Oh yeah, there was something about using your primary and secondary weapons in either slot maybe?...
