Thanks for the tips. I heard of uv headlamps but are you really safe in the buggy? I mean the virals can swipe at you when they jump on it. Well, safe is indeed a relative thing - you will be safe from the Volatiles just like with any Safe Zone lights, but there is nothing stopping the Virals or any other zed from attacking you. It might well be handy if you needed to stop to repair or craft some more land mines for the buggy.

Had a great time last night. I had to take out a demolisher. Not sure where you're at so I won't spoil anything, but it was tough and finally got him down. I was heading back to Jashir's camp and it was getting later evening. I decided to take control of a tower as a safe house. The dread of the nighttime came as it got dark while I was in the tower, and I had to also turn on a power in a shed next to the tower! So many walkers came in the shed while I tried to turn the power on, awesome close quarters swarming, but I got them all and hit the lights. Such a great feeling! I looted everything up climbed back up looked out over the night, a storm started up, and I finally laid down till morning...then went to sleep myself. Since I've avoided all modified weapons, just use base high level melee swords, machetes etc. it really gives me a grounded feeling similar to the walking dead. Of course the bloaters, demolishers, etc. are fantastical, but I can live with them. The walkers and virals are perfect though. And as much as I hate and avoid the volatiles it really adds depth to the game and I love that I can usually avoid them by playing as I like. Such a great game!

Sounds like you had an excellent time. I'm at 90% of the story campaign (still only done about 30% of the available side-missions though and almost none of the races) Also worth bearing in mind is that the Volatiles won't chase you into the sea or deep water, not if you dive down out of sight, so another handy way of avoiding them if you get caught out

Got the DLC completed a few days ago and so went back to clear up some trophies. Old news for most folks, I know, but I finally managed to get the dancing zombie easter egg to happen: Dancing Zombies Lots of fun!

Wow yo u got 100%? All the hives etc and big monsters? Those are too annoying for the way I want to play. I wish you could play with just the walkers and some amount of virals. I'm getting annoyed with the sputters and exploding dudes, and too many virals too, but still having a great time, just not doing some quests

Yeah, the Boss monsters are pretty OTT with regard to damage and how much they can take - I fought my first from sundown to sunrise. I still have a hive or two to take out and one boss monster but those aren't necessary for 100% - that's just the story and or trophies. Hives are easier if you enter them at night, though you'll only get 7.5 minutes (time speeds up) to kill the volatiles that act as queen volatiles before dawn and the others return. Also, the camouflage skill helps you get past the volatiles.
The Demolishers are best whittled down with throwing stars and probably conducting fluid - you'll get a prompt for when to throw at the head (their vulnerable spot.) Also, the compound crossbow (Crossbow v2) can take demolishers, Toads and the rebar dudes out in one shot if you get them in the head. Shotguns are great for demolishers too as are the special pistols you get in the mission to find the weapon stash from the museum.
New patch since the day before yesterday has given us four free community created maps. They remind me of FarCry too.
Hope all that helps.
Doing the Faceless missions will upgrade your buggy too - very useful if you need to go somewhere at night.

Found a flying saucer crashed in the sea and now have a neat alien ray-gun. It only really works on the regular zeds, but it is fun to use.

Cheers dude, Go for the Strange, unknown rock pieces you find scattered around the game. I think since the update it now saves the fact that you have it in your inventory and so when you have all fifteen, you'll get a prompt for the alien abduction Easter-egg.
