OMFG.....
So I actually got a chance to play as Skywalker once. Yes, it is a pickup. I... tried to take out an AT-ST, though I wasn't quite familiar with the controls so I was holding my lightsaber whacking it instead of throwing it and.... its explosion killed me? I'm not sure. My timer might have run out, I'm not sure.
Also, Walker Assault is EXTREMELY lopsided towards the offense. Maybe even more-so than the alpha. They're working on it, but I have no idea if that means during the beta.
Edit: I'm feeling a little bit better about how to play Walker Assault on Hoth, which is making me feel a little bit better about the map, but it's still currently incredibly unbalanced. Probably the best round on defense I've seen since the beta started and we barely did 25% damage to either of the Walkers... It was kinda imbalanced in the alpha, but this went way in the wrong direction somehow...
However, the thing I'm feeling uneasy about is that playing extremely aggressively is definitely the way to go. In both modes. Cautiousness gets you screwed constantly. You can be a little smarter about it in the mode on Sullust when defending a drop pod, but it's rarely the way to go on Hoth on either side, except for a few rare decent defensive hiding spots. Now, the motion detector still needs work, but you got to learn to actively use it. There's an outer ring and a large center portion for closer enemies. However, even at a running pace, enemies hardly light up the inner part at all. Only slightly, unless they use a jump jet which lights it up brighter. The detector needs to be balanced better, but definitely definitely (almost definitely ) go after a target if you see your inner circle light up just slightly and get the jump on them before they notice you're there.
I'm uneasy about this because I don't generally like it when aggressiveness is always the way to win a game, but it is what it is...
Oh and I got to play as Darth again. I didn't get to do much, but make sure you hold down right-click to block. The thing is, they don't seem to be all that useful at the moment... other than looking cool when blocking and being a primary target. It's like "Hey! Everybody shoot me so I can look cool while you aren't shooting the other targets!"
