They actually released it..... (the surprise that is)
www.nomanssky.com/origins-update/GEE, ANIMAL DISCOVERY HAS BEEN LEFT OUT! .....
Update spoilers:
New planets are being added, but current ones are staying the same? (maybe?)
Looks to me like, in the trailer, some of the objects (normally harvestable?) have just been increased in scale a ridiculous amount, but apparently mountains are getting bigger too, so neat. I would have still been really fine with wiping current planets though. I mean, come on... since they aren't wiping current planets, would they even be fixing issues / the lousy parts about planet generation? Doesn't sound like it to me. They've must made things massive. shrug
But we do get volcanoes, which I'm sure all look the same....
Binary stars for 2 suns in the sky. woo.... Wait.... What about nocturnal creatures? fuck. Are the binary stars always close together? They thought about this, right?
(still wish planets actually moved in relation to eachother.)
All planets, including current ones, can end up getting the new plants, though.
You saw the new beetle creature in the trailer.
omg, lololol
There's been an asshole on Twitter that's been posting "Fix Clouds" on every single one of Sean's Tweets since the volumetric clouds launched, but maybe he finally stopped or got banned as some point? Anyways, they've updated clouds, but.... the preview image still has its visual flaws that aren't nice.
"Marsh" zones on some lush planets.
Increased color variety again.
Other Teleporter UI now looks like the Anomaly Teleporter UI.
A massive new building type (some seen in the trailer) called Archive buildings. Looks like these are replacing the monuments where you place a relic to locate ruins. You can still do that in the Archive building, but these buildings are also populated with NPCs and lore.
You can now find abandoned buildings on the Exotic Glitch planets I was just talking about before this update, so... woo?...
Heat storms can light the ground on fire.
Storms now have different BENEFICIAL effects. That's weird.... Blizzards cool your mining laser, toxic lets you sprint farther, heat gives you a jetpack increase, radioactive lets you mine more. ok.....
Another crafting streamline. (are they actually getting rid of now obsolete items again?) Some things trimmed, some stacks increased. More underground caches.
"Ultra" planet quality setting has been made even more ultra - (grass flowers noticeably increased, farther LOD)
OK, they've added an "Exploration Guide" mission ("Local Information Register"?) It says it "assists" you. Bull fucking shit. All I see is that it now gives you a number of Plants and Rocks to discover, along with the animal count that's been there since launch. Great, I bet they have not made it less confusing by wiping the objects from the list that no longer exist due to planet regeneration. PLEASE DO THAT! FIX IT!!!! I also don't even know how to start this "Exploration Guide" mission, it doesn't say.
But with this mission maybe now we'll get more complaints about this stuff?
Portal interference is gone. I actually don't know what this means because I still haven't used one. lol
So they're even more meaningless now? sigh, so much for that.
Ooh, meteors! And I think they can actually hit you, but.... don't actually drop anything.
Lowgrav anomaly events on some planets? I mean, dead planets used to have lowgrav, but were replaced by glitch exotic planets. They don't want to see lowgrav go away, do that? That's ok by me.
Tornadoes
LIGHTNING TOO!!!! (lightning strikes might be telegraphed, idk)
NPC pilots can now (randomly?) land on the ground too. I'm sure they won't walk around though.
Creature info now says what time of day they're out at least. - diurnal means day, if you didn't actually know that.
OOOOOOH OK. So creature that no longer exist are now labeled "Extinct". Does this mean the game will actually let you get your completion reward now or no?
That might actually be the case! YAY!
Even your multitool can now get more basic capacity, like ships and freighters before it. But I'm still being stubborn and want to actually discover ones with more capacity (but my multitool is already a maxed out one anyways, lol).
What about suit tech expansion.... please?
omg wild robots.
oh good, Advanced Fish AI.
Actually all flocking creatures have better flocking and can fly closer to the ground (lol gee, I've already seen ones before getting stuck on giant cliffs before).
And ah yes.... the fucking sandworm. It now exists. How is that going to go? You can't kill it, can you?
Again, I'm actually disappointed that current planets still exist and are not getting regenerated.
I am interested so see how the new weather and cloud systems actually behave. Do current planets even have the new weather events besides the new cloud tweaks?
Ooh, there's actually a chance of triple-star systems too.
I think only systems that are new/undiscovered might get robots?
Oh, entirely reset.
New cooking products, of course. Still no actual mention of why Sean was so excited about oranges.
Oh Wow thank fuck, too late....
Aw... is it finally gone?
THANK FUCK, JC.....
Ah, there we go....
