I guess this can go here.
Firewatch is out next week. It's 10% ~$2 off on Steam right now.

Just finished Firewatch. Pretty good. It actually ended up reminding me of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The game didn't quite go the way you would expect, however the name still fits fine. It's an Ethan Carter kind of game (even has a specific location that you have to go to at some point that's similar), but it doesn't have any puzzles, even though I thought there might be at some point due to certain things you find it's not that kind of game. Mostly just story. But it stays more grounded and doesn't get nearly as crazy as The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
It took me around 5 hours and it doesn't really have much need for more playthroughs, but I'd say it's definitely a good play. But you could better pick it up for $15 or less. Though... it is $18 right now and will go up to $20. I picked up the soundtrack version for $23, which will be $25 and I haven't checked it out yet, but it might not be worth it to grab the soundtrack. One of my few small issues. The rare/occasional times it gives you a song, it feels just ever so slightly a lighter mood than the tone is of what's going on.
Thumbs up, but just note that it's a 5 hr game for $20. A pretty memorable one though.

Well it does sound pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. We haven't got far in Ethan Carter so I can easily wait for a sale down the road on this one.

Wow, they actually gave a FLAC set of the soundtrack though. I think only 1 other game I have so far has done that... and I think it was Ethan Carter lol. Oh, but here's my full playthrough... if you can resist it. It was streamed though, so the quality isn't so great when moving.

Oh crap, tip I forgot. There's a setting to turn off your location marker on the map that your guy holds. Do that. It'll probably make the game better for it.

So..... Firewatch 0.... .5? ... ?? store.steampowered.com/app/365160/(not the same devs btw) 1970s just like Firewatch, oh and there's even a frickin' map that looks almost identical in style that you pull up in your hand.... Not kidding. AAAND a camera to use!... So far I haven't seen any walkie-talkie communication with someone though. Supposedly it's not terrible though, so...

In this week's Co-optional Podcast they got back to and had a pretty good (and lengthy) discussion about Firewatch again.
I don't agree with TB not liking how the game ended, though of course he played it a bit differently, but I do agree with his point that the game didn't give me enough successful leads to keep exploring. That I do get. I did explore a bit more than TB, but the things that I did see, for the most part, didn't seem like they actually went anywhere and were just there to fill in the world and the story. But rarely did I find something that really looked like it went somewhere that continued. I wanted there to be, but didn't find things that lead me to the next piece.
But Jesse... explored a lot more and found a bunch of stuff that I completely missed. I think I found more context than TB, but Jesse got a lot more leads.
After 40 minutes in. (There's also some nsfw stuff earlier in the episode.)
I still liked the game for my playthrough though. A little sad that there was some real stuff that I missed (even if maybe it doesn't actually add that much more gametime).
