Just finished playing through INSIDE.
(Also recorded it and will probably upload it tonight.)
Well..... It certainly was a game by the LIMBO devs....
But..... I'm gonna have to say I'm disappointed that I actually played it already.... at least at its $20 price point.
I ran through it in a little over 3 1/2 hrs, though there might be some slight replayability/secrets similar to LIMBO.
However.... I'm not one to really want to dive back into this one... unfortunately (not that I actually got around to it in LIMBO either).
I'm gonna try to, I guess very, briefly sum things up with out specific spoilers if I can... Mainly my feelings on it.
For most of the game I was thinking.... (unless it improves) maybe I would have liked this "unique" game better, if LIMBO hadn't existed. Reason being, other than the styles, is puzzles. They aren't so interesting, and in some cases, including pretty much the very first main puzzle, you could get stuck for too long of a time because you aren't noticing something you're supposed to be noticing on screen, even despite the lack of complexity in the scenes in general. Especially the first one.... The first puzzle is easily the silliest puzzle in the game, and not in a tutorial kind of way. (Didn't LIMBO have a puzzle near the start that you might get stuck on for a really long time for some stupid reason?) (Oh and, no indicator that Right Ctrl is grab on PC, the only other important action other than the arrow keys - no WASD btw...)
Again, for most of the game I was thinking that maybe I would have liked the game better if LIMBO hadn't existed, but.... LIMBO didn't have great puzzles either. It was the uniqueness of the style that won over that one. Also, INSIDE repeats one of its simple mechanics too many times, not just 1 segment, but in a few...
But then.... in INSIDE... the super "wtf moment" happens.....
This moment happens and then becomes a series of events to the end of the game. A rather lengthy time. Especially when there was one spot where I again got stuck for significantly longer than the player should have.
But this moment and segment of the game was just over the border of uncomfortable for me. It's nothing personal for me, You'll just know it when you get there....
It also ends in somewhat of a fashion like LIMBO, sort of. Not as jarringly, but also.... perhaps less satisfying. Especially when I wasn't really feeling the ending section...
I could talk about it just a little bit more, but I don't want to end up going towards hinting at the things that actually happen. Could have already done that already (slightly too much).
