Hmm, I must have missed this detail somehow, but apparently FUEL came from this tech demo in 2005. Grand Raid Offroad, never released until it was FUEL in 2009.

Of course as we know, FUEL still wasn't really a complete world when it released, but we loved it anyways.

(And Last Frontier's beta website is still unusable, but I think the game is still up. It's not a driving game.)

Holy shit, I was just informed that Asobo helped on The Crew 2. Holy hell, that makes so much sense now, now that I realize it. From the way the remade map turned out and was screwed, to the more obviously broken GPS, which wasn't an issue in the first game. icon_e_surprised

Odd/interesting that it seems like this modder didn't get AA working? It was pretty much broken to normal users on PC anyways, but I thought somebody figured out how to get it enabled, maybe not.

What else is crazy is that before I started trying out FUEL on PC, i would've thought that PS3 had higher quality textures... that could've been broken on PC (since we knew AA wasn't working). But there is a chance that it's just more obvious since PS3 was such a low resolution that you didn't notice it (the low resolution itself was the "detail"). I've played NFS:HP2, a PS2 game, emulated at a higher resolution and it's astonishing what gets lost in texture detail rendered at low resolutions. There was a noticeable amount of texture detail in NFS:HP2, particularly in the canyons, that gets lost at standard def.

There's so many game devs that have been revealing games (or at least the initial concept art) that look like this.... and like The Last Frontier by Asobo which is shut down.

The studio made by Ex-DICE/EA devs (Embark?) does as well.

Though apparently this game was more melee combat focused, surprisingly. But the initial concept arts of the world all look the same, lol. And not to mention the name.

Though they also say this was supposed to be "Destiny" before Destiny happened. rolleyes
