Whatever, Spoil it now..... What was the point of hiding it, then? Did they not pick yet or something? blog.playstation.com/2021/04/26/meet-rivet-the-mysterious-new-protagonist-in-ratchet-clank-rift-apart/I still hate how the dialogue / voice acting has gotten more generic (or bad) - like they're always talking directly to the player instead of eachother. Talking that way, intentional or not seems patronizing to me. Dora the Explorer effect? Just plain bad voice acting? directing? There's definitely a spectrum of quality here. Nefarious > Clank > Ratchet > Rivet. (Maybe Ratchet and Clank can be swapped, but Clank is a robot anyways.) Omg, at least her voice acting isn't as bad as the girl in the R&C remake on Batalia? holy crap that was bad. OMG!!! There's a section in there where that (?) giant robot in the junkyard in ACiT is alive! He and I kind of have a special thing because that's the main level that I "glitched" out of the map to spend and insane amount of time to puzzle my way all the way up the cliffside buildings. (Invisible surfaces everywhere.) That's his top half, down there in blue. 15 minutes of gameplay in a few days at the next PS State of Play video.
She's been waiting all week to post this.... (or Month probably.)

Game Informer has Ratchet & Clank previews and interviews. I don't think I'll watch them. They have an "Hour With" article, but the video interview seems to show the same areas we just saw, mostly. It's not like I'm gonna be able to find a PS5 anyways.... Though a bunch of places are giving rumors that a lot of places, at least online could be releasing big stock this week. Including Target, though navigating to the actual consoles themselves seems to be impossible on their website.
Actually all 3 of The Big Three, and some others, have previews.
In other news, Ubisoft actually just announced a big Free 2 Play push, at least with Tom Clancy, also moving further away from annual releases, though they say/claim single player games aren't going away. Though I played the latest Assassin's Creed mobile game. I fear Ubisoft might just turn into a garbage heap.

Twitter's video player is an awful place to showcase this: Still no PS5 for me.

There's a Playstation Direct PS5 drop coming tomorrow - 3PM Eastern for those who got an email (I did not) and 5 PM for those who did not (supposedly). It's been fricking weeks of almost absolutely nothing except for some sprinkled supposed canceled Digital orders. People selecting the wrong one? lol

Playing through Rift Apart, stopping on the gray desert planet after doing the first Temple. The speedchallenge up to it looked pretty cool, with cool music as well. But the Mrs. Zurkon immediately after switching back to Ratchet was the exact moment I bought a new weapon on a new page on the Quick Select. Weapon Quick Select has had pages for a long time in R&C, but this timing (with no tutorial warning for this) made me think that it took away all my weapons besides my new one for the switch to Ratchet. So I was speeding around the desert to the different combat locations, not completing them because I kept running out of ammo. lol It's pretty rough on the hardest difficulty, and no, I could not beat the Bronze Arena challenges when I was there, after beating the first boss from Rusty Pete. The thing is, I don't think this game's mass amounts of random gunfire are good for seeing or knowing when to avoid or dodge something. This isn't modern DOOM (or Returnal) (and I think it probably shows (when playing it on the hardest difficulty), though I haven't actually played either of them). Laser enemies are particularly annoying when they're perched above and you weren't even looking at them because they'll shoot you anyways. Also, the enemies with the big ball hands look a lot more menacing than they are, making me think I need to back away. I had to remember that melee is powerful in this game (at least for enemies on the ground) - even for these big ones. And what's with every game nowadays having a buggy "New Item Obtained" icon {!} that doesn't go away when it should. And it seems to be stuck there permanently for me now. So everything's audio logs now, huh? Even the infobots? which used to always be funny videos and cutscenes. Does this game even have Skill Points? And I don't know how much I'll actually be able to fly around on Sargasso and other planets later (yes I have hoverboots), but I used to like scanning an entire map, making sure I touched every inch, but it seem like there's some spots included on the map (unlike some of the damn cliffs in the way of Speedbeetles on Sargasso.... which is so poorly designed for it) that you may never be able to get to. This annoys my gamer OCD.

Ratchet sounds like he's in severe pain a lot of the time when doing a wrench slam, or even just swinging it. It's painful to hear instead of satisfying.
My weapon preview videos have just.... stopped existing? I've had several new weapons available in a row now where it says Preview, but no video plays.
Does this game have a NG+? This isn't the first time I haven't stopped myself from using Big Head Mode (which shows in cutscenes) on the first playthrough.

Quite a bit of frustration with how cramped (as well as full of obstacles) most battle moments are, along with the extreme amount of aggression and gunfire at the highest difficulty. And the gameplay itself as well as the progression wasn't really balanced or tuned well for this difficulty. The Enforcer Arena Challenge is HIGHLY difficult not only for just having gotten the Enforcer (which later changes names btw) at the time, but because knockback from every bullet that hits you INCLUDING ON THE WALL RUNNING PANELS IN THAT ARENA. It's ridiculous. I did eventually beat it - perhaps made slightly easier after eventually having some upgrades for it, but still very though when I did. And not in a good way. Also Tip for the Warmonger challenge (at least if you're playing on harder difficulties) - the bouncepad in the center of that one can possibly be very helpful. Sometimes not, but it can be, if your luck with how the damned enemies fire is good. Oh yeah plus, so much Weapon Rumble means your controller is no longer able to tell you when you've been hit. AND THAT IS...... VERY UNFORTUNATE. .... We've lost this, haven't we?..... This aggressive Rumble that Sony has pushed us into might not be worth it. And I've never been a Rumble hater. I have no idea when this game is going to save (or checkpoint). Or for that matter, where the hell it's going to spawn you (especially when nothing is going on ). Sargasso is a mess in particular, but so is the Pirate location. Some battles will checkpoint in the middle of masses of enemies still being alive. Not that that harms you, because you still respawn safe, but it throws you for a loop because you were giving no sense that you had apparently progressed because you were still mid-battle with a fuckload of enemies. Suddenly the section of the battle's been cut in half - which was not expected. Other times the respawn is annoyingly a bit back in the battle (just annoyingly because of this extreme difficulty). But then I think I've had a few times where I think I've maybe missed a (likely brief) cutscene or commentary because I killed the main boss right as I died (maybe from side enemies). ugh. Oh yeah, and again with Sargasso being a mess as well as the Pirate Location. It is possible to get yourself stranded on Sargasso (at.... least before you get the spawns for flying on Trudi? Oh yeah - Speaking of Trudi - Thanks for locking away her firepower until mid objective FOR NO REASON making the things you couldn't collect confusing as fuck! ) But it seems like every planet (I guess) may have a failsafe where if you die a few times, you'll automatically be put near the beginning of the level. What's fuckin weird about the Pirate place is that it only takes 1 death (at least by environment, not enemies?) for this to happen. OH actually in the City, TOO! You go across the map to grab a Gold Bolt or Raritanium, and you fall into the abyss or lava (etc) (likely due to some really fucked up level design) AND YOU'RE BACK AT THE FUCKING START OF THE MAP! There's actually a few places in this game where there's a gap in the floor FOR NO REASON AT ALL! that you cannot see from any angle (until it's too late). THOSE ARE FUCKING FUN! THANKS INSOMNIAC!
And another thing about at least one of the battles on Sargasso at the hardest difficulties - Insomniac has pretty much always made sure in the past that you can always back out of a fight if your weapons aren't leveled up enough. There's one fight mid objective on Sargasso that is Extremely difficult at the hardest difficulty. But SpeedBeetle spawns are gone and there's a gap over the much that has a teleport Rift 1-way.... and not the other. Except that you can Boot over that gap BARELY. But does that matter? NO! Except for more health crates THIS STILL DOESN'T LET YOU LEAVE! BECAUSE THE ROUTE TO KEEP LEAVING HAS BEEN BLOCKED! Frickin' Awful.
These were not playtested well.... Rushed? I'd think so. But I don't know.

Rivet mentions Angela somewhere at the Prison. Also, there's (at least?) 1 Gold Bolt and 1 Infobot (sorry... Spybot?) that doesn't get revealed by the Map-o-Matic, at the Prison and by Zurkies, respectively. They're both in sneaky places away from the main map. Does the Map-o-Matic seriously not reveal Gold Bolts and Infobots unless you've touched that spot on the map? Seriously? ... But they're both in the game's (PS5) Activities. Another thing that's annoying with this game's combat flow is that EVEN IF you hoverboot right through a health nanotech crate, it doesn't send that frickin' nanotech to you.
It seems to me like open AMMO (and (idk) perhaps even when zooming through the crate) jumps the ammo to you without having be immediately at it. But health (which is this little dinky white-blue glowing light) makes you have to frickin loop back around BECAUSE IT DIDN'T GIVE IT TO YOU!
And how this becomes even more annoying is that this little light of nanotech can sometimes fly a ways from the crate position - and sometimes even off the arena! And you're just zooming around trying not to die gong wtf???....
It makes me wonder whether or not this happening, and you not grabbing it, delays the spawn of a new crate - and in the extreme heat of battle you wonder if it might be forever. But for now I think it may have no extra effect on when the crate respawns. If you can't grab it because of this stupidness, it probably times out/disappears. - something like that idk.

OMG I didn't realize until all the way until near the end of the final battle that Alternate-Nefarious was TF2 Medic (Robin Atkin Downes)! Oh wow.... Somewhere I got really fuckin confused. Somehow I had linked Rick May (TF2 Soldier) to Capt. Slag (no longer in the series), but he was also Robin Atkin Downes! The Plumber, Lawrence, and Talwin show up in the 2D credits. Plumber is hanging with the Monks (which somehow I find pretty funny - though he's also a character that changed drastically from the original games). Lawrence is shown with a wife and baby (okay?) and Talwin is just standing behind Ratchet & Clank. I didn't see Angela anywhere in the 2D credits, even though she gets a mention from Rivet at the Prison. And what about Al? (apparently he was one of the parade balloons - half forgot) Even with singular mentions/references, this game was pretty Fan-service-y, even after the remake. But I'm not too upset by that. (I did go WOW at the boldness of the Pirate Song though - (not related to anything prior).) I knew initially I was going to be upset or at least a bit disappointed that Rivet wasn't going to be punished for her abuse of Kit, and I expected it to end up just having Kit show up anyways to help Rivet in the fight. And..... that is what happened... ( ) But the story was going at pretty high speed at that point anyways (excluding the break for grinding - of which I don't think Mr. Fungi works as it probably should in the Randomizer Arena Challenge where this weapon almost never counts kills it gets for some reason). Oh, So Quark DID get a new voice actor this game..... For like the 2 lines he has in the entire thing. He was at the very start and the very end. I was going to say if he was going to have a new voice actor, while it does sadly feel strange (especially after the extreme amount he was in the remake), this is the best point to do it. But he's (Jim Ward) 62 and it was announced on his Facebook in February that he has Alzheimer's and got severe Covid. (Also, do not go to his website. It's not his anymore and asks you to download malware that you don't want to be downloading.) And oh yeah, those Teddybears for Craig, Ratchet's artist who died of cancer in 2019. But 1 last comment about the combat. Why are we not able to use weapons while hoverbooting in this game? Even though this game mostly seems more cramped and obstacle-filled for this than usual. I'm pretty sure in previous games you could at least toss bombs while you're booting around for health (which as mentioned previously is even more problematic now because breaking a crate while hoverbooting does send the health to you in this game!) so you can potentially end up spending a lot of time being useless while going around trying to heal on your boots - since you can't shoot while doing this in this game.
Also, I know people had the parts they hated from all the previous Ratchet games, but while yes, this game had a MUCH tighter story than most of the previous games, I hope they bring back some (new?) variety into the next one.
(blasting through a game makes $80 feel like oof, though. And come on, let us get the Soundtrack files out of the DLC pack like we can from the Dream's one.)

I'm still not completely certain yet, but as far as it seems, it looks like the Copy Save function (IN the game) doesn't seem to actually function? Maybe it does, but it doesn't actually frickin' show it does - unless maybe until you do it, load in and then back out to the main menu again. idk Bad UI if it does function.
