This is definitely a tricky one. And no, I did not intentionally skip the shortcut on the last lap. lol
Youtube's compression loves it, too. Every time they come up with a new codec, they claim it has no perceivable loss in quality, yet I've watched 720 on Youtube get worse and worse again and again.

I "tied" him TWICE before I actually beat him..... after many hours. (The visible time rounds to 2 decimal places, but it does count more finely than that.) Also, I was extremely close to possibly not having this recording saved. The PS4 doesn't always tell you when you don't have enough space to save a recording, so check it yourself. Under 15GB is when you should be worried. (And they've removed the shooting from Pinstripe's podium animation!!!! )

I can't believe I'm saying this, but.... Easy.
The dev doesn't even take the shortcut on the first lap. Crazy.
(And I'm just noticing now, "Fixed" Rilla Roo is Speed, while the "New" Rilla is Turn, lol.)

Why must Youtube butcher 720 so?

Turns out, Turbo Track has the same ghost as Retro Stadium. Whether or not I would have cared if they were different would have depended on the order I played them in, i'm sure.
Ouch, hurt, oof.
I guess that helps us assume that the geometry of the track surface is indeed the same between the two, if they just kept the same ghost.
I beat my Retro Stadium time by .04

Wow, another one that is MUCH easier than expected, at least with Drift, because the dev doesn't take the full cut - Papu's Pyramid:

So, unexpected 7GB update for CTR that I'm currently downloading, with no patch notes to be found (probably). There's a bunch of reasons for speculation. At the base, is it just some more track fixes? (if any actually at all?) Is it maybe a download for shutting down its real money purchase system, if that even needs a big update, and making all the assets local? Update preparing for Next-gen compatibility upgrades? Hell, cross-play preparation? PC?
But also there's been this thing going around (maybe mostly rumor, don't know) that some drastic form of optimization is going around to game devs that they're implementing for improved load times even for games on HDDs. There's been a lot of "Telephone"/grapevine talk about it right now, at least from the outside, but I have no idea about any details.

Well, the update ^ definitely didn't improve loading times, that's for sure... This has always been an intriguingly frustrating track, but I've always liked it for its little tricks it has (but the shortcuts and armadillos still suck).
And again I tied the developer earlier without beating him (.00)

I can't believe how much I had forgotten how to drive this track as Speed.... but admittedly, I was trying too hard.
