Also, apparently Sean's doing a Reddit AMA on the 31st (Friday). Though I'm unsure if we're going to getting more content on Monday and Wednesday. I'd hope so.

No release date yet
The team members have some things on hold until after it has launched. (Not generally seen as a good sign nowadays, but here I'm ok with it.)

Sounds like there is potential VR capability at some point, but I'm guessing not by launch (without 3rd party tweaks and whatnot).

We have a variety of different types of star, some of which are super rare, and you'll start to realise they'll tend to offer certain opportunities. In the videos already out there, as I zoom through the Galactic Map you get glimpses of different types, sizes and colours of stars, and more interestingly probably, different formations.

A very vague... almost non-answer about if you can find a planet with no atmosphere or so little atmosphere that you're just seeing into space when you're on it. But... that's probably mostly the case at night time anyways, right?

Some seas can be very deep, yes, and they can get dark. Maybe you'll find certain creatures down there, and other things besides - you'll have a light on your suit that'll help you see. But these places are likely to be dangerous. One of my favourite things, that never gets old for me, is that feeling when I find some underwater caves. There I am supposed to be testing the game, and suddenly I’m distracted 100 meters deep in a cave discovering new creatures and running out of air.

No answer on cross-platform servers/universe. He hasn't decided yet.

There are things like rain, dust storms, snow, blizzards, storms and a bunch of other things possible. There are also more alien weather types, effectively like radioactive and toxic hazards, and atmospheres made from different compositions to ours.

A vague answer to this, but... supposedly you can set waypoints to planets you've been to before... and it'll make a route... maybe if your current hyperdrive can reach it? Not really sure about this answer.

Factions will become friends with you if you help them out, maybe by defending them against an attack from a warring faction or a pirate attack. Perhaps if you're attacked and they're around, they'll come and help you in return, or maybe they’ll give you preferential treatment as a trader.

Bronybuscus: What is the funniest glitch/mishap that you have seen in your game?

One time, we had creatures that lived on the ceiling of caves only in the Northern Hemisphere. Another time all the buildings started walking around the planet. There was a space station that tried to dock in another space station, and a gun that was so powerful it blasted creatures into orbit. My favourite was probably the bug that would reincarnate you as a different creature each time you died. One minute you are in a dog-fight, the next you are a shark in the ocean.

Honestly right now, there’s a bit of maths that I’m working on that will really increase the variation you see on the planets, or at least give more interesting variation. It’s pretty much all I can think about. Don’t get excited though, because that’s standard for me. Whatever I’m working on right now is “the most exciting thing”, and I always think it’s going to solve “all the problems all at once”. The real joy is when you are seeing the team check in their individual pieces and suddenly you see them fit together and interact.

Few planets will be dense with plant life and animals. Most will be barren, but even barren planets can be sources of great wealth.

Planets can be toxic

Some planets are death traps, with radiation or other hazards that will kill you in minutes. To survive you’ll need to upgrade your suit.

Planets have days and nights

Fly down to the night side of a planet, and you’ll find the land in darkness. Different creatures will be awake while daytime creatures sleep.

It’s worth upgrading your ship

Ships offer varying capacity for being upgraded, whether speed, maneuverability, jump drive range, or weapon power.

You won’t be left without a ship

If you die and have no money, a basic ship is always available for free. It won’t have a hyperdrive, but you’ll be able to fly to planets again to rebuild.

You need fuel

You can fly for as long as you like in a star system, but to make jumps between systems you’ll need hyperdrive fuel, which you can buy from space stations or mine from planet surfaces.

Your multitool is an adaptable weapon

Multitools have a basic firing mode, but some come with different, more powerful attacks, or you might find technologies to upgrade them.

Death isn’t the end

But it’s a problem. If you die on a planet, you’ll find yourself revived back at your ship having lost what you hadn’t stowed and discoveries you hadn’t uploaded. If you die in space, you find yourself revived at the nearest space station, without your ship, items and discoveries.

Some animals hunt others

You’ll see food chains in action, with species being predated by others. You might find that you’re far from being at the top of the chain.

With all the stuff on No Man's Sky at E3, IGN, and PS blog, people are hyping up a coming release date... but since the conferences were so close this year... Sony is skipping Gamescom... which starts today. Instead holding off for Paris Games week... which isn't until the end of October...

To be honest, it didn't really sound like Sean was ready to give a release date, even if he wanted to. But the end of October... is a little disappointing.

That certainly feels like a long ways off.

~~No clue when its gunna come out~~, but it looks like you can pre-order from Walmart too. 60 bucks though for a pre-order... Although, it does look like a lot of work was put into the game. Ships on December 31'st according to Wallmart.

Oh, I didn't see the previous post. I'm sure that's a placeholder date because that day makes almost no sense. But it being Dec 31st just means that only mentioned release timeframe was in 2015 with no confirmed date, so that's what they put.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Gamestop shows placeholder dates anymore, but it's not even on their website, so...

From Giant Bomb's E3 podcast they said Sean said you can dig (at least?) 128m down. No idea if that's the limit or if you can go farther.

Also, you can even find wrecked ships that can be flyable that are better than yours, but you'll have to get the resources to repair it.

No Man's Sky will be on The Late Show (with Colbert) on Friday.

I wasn't a fan of the in-your-face style of the Colbert Report, (but I admit I have never actually watched one), but after watching Colbert on Seinfeld's Crackle show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, I like him a lot better. And his Late Show seems a lot more chill than the Colbert Report (at least most of it maybe?). Also saw his interview with Bernie Sanders. There seemed to a little bit of forceful "talking for him (Sanders)" going on, but not too much I guess and felt more like fitting in the time constraint. He was really nice in the "Silly Walks" interview with Lupita Nyong'o though.

But... I still don't expect this to be much more than Conan's gaming segments... I like Conan, who is one of the least non-funny late night hosts. Buuut I can barely watch his game segments. ugh

Oh, but ALERT.... Pewdiepie is going to be on the same show...

Agreed... I have so many friends that love the guy. He doesn't seem like a horrible person, but he's really annoying, and I have never been able to get into watching anyone play a game
