Sadly, the "out of boredom" part is going to be an issue for a lot of people though... Sean talks about gravity (and such) just being numbers (though of course, very complex ones with near infinite possible variables in RL) yet gravity won't effect your flight in this game...

Uh yeah...they shouldn't say "out if boredom" not good marketing there!!
If this has psvr support I'll get it day one, if not I will probably wait and see.

Some parts seem pretty good, some kind of might be dull. I honestly can't get a feeling on it. VR I hope. Then hell yes, although I agree not being able to fly down to the planet surface from space and land is pretty huge letdown.

Wait, you mean land manually right?
I mean, for obvious reasons (though unfortunate for some) they made landing really easy.
I'm kinda surprised you aren't more into it after how much FUEL we played. Though I guess that ship is kind of sailed... somewhat. Maybe.

Playstation Access didn't have much additional info other than that the Korvax npcs at the various stations and shops and whatever are "humanoid" but he didn't say anything about what they actually looked like.
He says that you can run out of fuel mid-"jump" when trying to jump to planets in your ship. Which he did, but it dropped him out next to asteroids which he could mine for more fuel to jump again. (I bet it would place asteroids around you most of the time.) But... He also found out that somehow, pirates can intercept you mid-jump rather than just when you're out of jump. Kind of surprising. I wonder if that's actually what happened or if he mistook what happened because he said there were also freighters there.

Well if this was like Fuel I would be all over it. In other words, not having to fill up with actual fuel, connect with others and do some races or just fly around space and explore together..it'd be awesome! I'm just concerned the solo gameplay will be a bit underwhelming.
And the feeling of progression may not be there either. I'm not sure what to expect, at $20 I'd be in just to check it out, but $60 does give you some amount of pause. Again with VR it'd be a buy at 60 just to experience it like that.
As for the landing, maybe I am misunderstood. Can you fly to a planet and actually pilot towards the surface and land your ship on its surface? Likewise do you take off from and and can fly into space adjusting your altitude as you wish? Or us there some sort of cut scene thing like in Mass Effect?

lol nope, no cutscene. You can fly as you wish. But hitting square near the ground or when entering a ship auto-rotates/autolevels your ship and lands it. No cutcenes or transitions here.
I mean, you can still get it to land in funny places on a planet (I guess it doesn't really make all that much of a difference there), but it could make things significantly easier if you end up entering a docking spaceship upside down. You won't have to be dealing with rotation and carefully landing your ship in a spinning spacestation like you do in Elite: Dangerous. Square makes it automatically land correctly.
It'd be cool if there was a manual option. Maybe there will be at some point, but it's probably just one option that puts out your landing gear at the moment, but also auto-lands you. I mean, it's not really that big of a deal I guess.

ah, got it. Well the auto-land like you describe is actually probably a good thing for someone like me hahaha. That flying to and from planets does sound very nice then.
