Another trailer I'm certainly still getting it, but man they've gone so overboard with this game.... It's like it's not Batman anymore.

What do you mean it's like it's not Batman anymore? Just the violence, or the escalation of "warfare" with tanks etc? I suppose the trailer doesn't seem to have as much story showing charisma of the bad guys. Maybe it's just missing Joker? The feeling I get is similar to haw Batman Rises felt like to me. It lost some of the showmanship and feel that Dark Knight had since Bane was no Joker. Just a typical bad guy type of story....then again Ann Hathaway!! I'm not as stoked as I was for City. Still looks fun though.

I'm not a huge fan of the (admittedly, slightly) modified artstyle as well. Funny.... That's the same reason why I stopped watching Batman not long after the visual makeover after The Animated Series. Everything in this is one is metal and mechanical. Shiny, metallic, robotic, etc. I just feel that the flare is so overdone. And they sure do love their particle effects, don't they....

I see. I'd be happy to just have some amount of daylight or something to mix it up. hopefully the size of the city and the batmobile will help change things up.

I read the season pass is $50! Definitely not on my list...whoa that's expensive. I'll pick up specific dlc that I want when it comes out, gotta keep up with no more season passes.
I just started the valley of yeti dlc for fc4 and I don't need it or really care, it looks nice and is fun so far but really the pass was a waste of money

Can't wait to hear your impressions. This will be on the back burner for me. I've only started scratching the surface of Witcher...

GameInformer gave it a 9.5. IGN gave it a 9.2. Gamespot gave it a 7 for frequent forcing of Batmobile/tank use (which I was afraid of), some bland or cheesy dialogue and predictable reveals, and monotonous encounters and lame boss fights in the second half. Dang... Would have been cool if they had gotten the Origins boss fight designers on this one. I think maybe I've grown to like Gamespot a bit more lately. Especially Dan does some great work. They've been pretty good guys to watch on their E3 coverage the last couple years, though I admit I still don't watch much of their stuff the rest of the year. They also generally seem to be more cynical now and less "HYPE!" like the other ones. Of course the guy who got outed (and fired I think?) for being bribed for good reviews several years ago pushed me away from both IGN and Gamespot a while ago, but meh. It looks like they've gotten their new website under control, so that's good. I've just felt like I've been running thin on quality gaming news sites lately. IGN frequently floods their site with TV and movie news just for people to read and for clicks when gaming news gets a little slow. Kotaku has gotten annoyingly overrun by Gawker, though it might have gotten a tad better just before E3, but who knows if it'll continue to get worse. The Engadget/Joystiq site guys are morons (best of all they have a Twitch stream on the main page which, as far as I know, can only have autoplay on - Twitch's fault? It might be). And of course they're now owned by Verizon, so that's fun.... [sarcasm] No more bringing up "net neutrality" problems from them. Gametrailers has got some good streamers with them. Unfortunately, they're still pretty much completely videos, so no readable articles from them still I guess. ugh

Not the only ones. Sure was a good sign when it hung and crashed on me twice in the first 10 minutes. Even forced me to reboot the second time.
After that, it was about what I've come to expect from Unreal Engine and the Batman games. Moving around the city and transitioning between cutscenes and gameplay is constantly choppy as hell. I don't have high hopes that the performance will be fixed fully satisfactorily after it took, what? Well over a year for Arkham City to get a performance improvement patch, which still didn't quite make it smooth?
I gotta say, as much as they try, Unreal has constantly failed to impress me. Performance-wise and visually. Give me the MGS V Fox engine. I wanna try that. (Not everything needs to be shiny, game engine devs...)
