Actually just got my code... but of course it says the launch time is at, well... either 1 or 2pm Friday, depending on which of the 2 times given in the email are correct.

Lol that'd be fine! I think there can be a lot of fun had, but I think my time to play on total and in small doses would not lend itself well to this game as it stands now.
People are getting confused because their pre-order ship has a hyperdrive and don't know what the hell happened when the ship they just bought doesn't have one...
That's one thing, but... apparently this breaks some sequences or tutorials or something? Like literally breaks them. Could be wrong and they're just uninformed (idiots).
I wasn't going to use mine anyways. Good thing it's optional.
IT'S STILL NOT FRIDAY YET!!!!

I did read that yesterday about the ship. If you use it right away you won't learn the blueprint for a hyper drive then later if you buy a new ship you won't have one and can't build one. The ntoes seem there are fixes or just wait until all tutorial type stuff is over before redeeming the preorder ship.
Not too bad problem-wise. 1 major problem happened both days which needs a reboot to fix. Framerate drops to 12 and stays there.
Most of the time it's playable... maxed out. Sometimes it feels like it drops lower than the framerate says though.
Right now it's kind of a combination of there being too much to talk about than I have the energy for right now combined with - after 2 days, I haven't gotten far enough to have experienced other things yet... even if they're probably similar. Most of it's my fault, I'm sure. And part of it is the "completionist" part of it/the planets, so far, taking too long to complete, even though the lists generally aren't that long (and varies by planet) - it still might take forever to fill it out... and I'm really trying to find ways or methods to fill it out faster. It doesn't give you many tools (as far as we know) to do it faster and that part gets to be frustrating and anxiety inducing...
Yeah, that sounds like complaining, but I got to get farther before I feel like I can talk about it more. I've barely gone anywhere.... (at the pace I'm doing things).
Anyways, I might as well post my already massive screenshot gallery... taking screenshots willy nilly...
Silly me, I forgot to take enough pictures of my first planet...
They have some performance fixes in testing in a public experimental branch on Steam.
Well... after completing the lists on my first solar system 100% on 4 planets, I have just warped to the next solar system on the path to the center (only one it would let me so far).
I think I can confirm now that I'm probably playing this at a significantly slower pace than it wants me to, however, how unintrusively it pushes you to the next step feels a little odd. It's a little tip that silently keeps popping up in the bottom right. If you aren't proceeding with that, it rarely prompts you with a waypoint. Also, you can kind of accidentally trigger story waypoints earlier than it thought you would trigger one by doing an action like hopping out of your ship again after getting into it when it told you to.
Also, that side alert keeps alternating with an alert that keeps telling me about the pre-order ship I have available to me that I don't want to take... and that I find annoying. I don't know if they will, but I hope they update it so that message stops happening if you don't want the ship.
Anyways, before I left for my second system, I wanted to see if you could fly to the sun. I spent 2 tanks of fuel before I gave up. People are saying the sun is just skybox. Someone claimed to have flown for 5 hours (since you can only "warp" by choosing solar systems on the galactic map.... which only shows a star and doesn't have the specific planets visible). Even so, I still don't know if we can confirm that stars are only part of a skybox... yet I think we have to confirm that, basically, how these solar system are set up is that every planet in the solar system is "orbiting" around the sun together in a close bunch... so you can reach them... while the sun is very very very far away, but can't be warped to and... may not even be technically reachable because we don't know if it's an actual location.

TotalBiscuit on the other hand... decided to go with the grouchy "I hate survival games" route in a way that bashed them instead of saying "this isn't a genre I care for, but others enjoy it." He used to get close to that, but this time he just bashed away at games in the genre for 20-40 minutes and probably will continue to do so for the next couple weeks or so.
I look forward to interesting updates on the game.

I finally got a signal from an Atlas station (which is actually a pretty early game objective), but it's 6 systems back in the opposite direction.... and I've traveled to 3.

Came across a red planet with snow that was originally really creepy, including the music it gave me, at least at night, though I knew there wasn't going going to be all that much danger because it said there was no wildlife.
But....
These frickin' things are plants.... apparently ....
They stay still in the air like that, yet they do "breathe"... (not the only plant to kind of have a breathing effect)
I was doing ok on this planet for a while, because little risk of danger... but eventually it ended up that there wasn't enough zinc frequent enough on the planet to charge my cold resistance for how damned cold it was... I got very very close to finally dying (which I've only died in space battles before so far).
I think next time I really should start rearranging my upgrades, because they become more efficient if identical/related upgrades are placed next to each other. Thing is, you can't actually "move" them. You have to deconstruct it (which only gives some back) and find/craft the required resources to build that upgrade again, which of course takes several slots to do because it's a pain in the ass that way.
Oh and I was disappointed that the music didn't stay as creepy as it was the night I got there.... It seems to always go back to the same music you hear all the time... which is rather boring.
A couple planets before this one I also had a highly toxic planet that was pretty eventful at first, because on top of the high toxicity, every sentinal drone was aggressive. But I soon had my gun upgraded to take them out in one shot AND they constantly supplied titanium for my toxicity resistance.... Most of the time they were constant pests, but you could take them out quickly and they let me keep my shield recharged, so I didn't mind....
EXCEPT..... As many others have also, I found 2 underwater buildings with no doors. As far as anybody knows, that happening is a bug, but I don't think we have a confirmation yet. What obviously is a bug though is monuments and ruins sometimes not appearing underwater where it shows you there is one. They're literally invisible. Also, sometimes they have the tendency to be half way in the ground, possibly only being accessible by blowing up the ground with grenades. And it doesn't seem intentional when that happens either.
Oh yeah, on that Toxic planet, I found the pineapple-looking creature, which I already had spoiled for me...
So far, with the couple planets I've had storms on, the storm goes on and off every few minutes... at least at night? Breaks between storms usually aren't very long, but I generally trudge right through them... because standing around doesn't have much point, even though storms are more toxic/colder than calm weather.
